Fire/Ice and Sauna/Red Light Common Questions

*What is full spectrum infrared sauna?*

Infrared light is part of the invisible light spectrum emitted by the sun and penetrates our body at varying levels based on the length of waves of light. We feel this as warmth and scientists have established that these infrared waves are beneficial to the human body without any of the harmful UV waves of sunlight. Each of these wavelengths has different health benefits with our industry leading Clearlight saunas covering the full spectrum without any of the high EMF's associated with other saunas.

*What is Red Light Therapy*

Red Light Therapy uses low-energy wavelengths of light to stimulate your body’s production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), supporting cellular repair and regeneration. This process—known as photobiomodulation—has been extensively researched and shown to increase energy production within the mitochondria of your cells.

The result is a wide range of benefits, including reduced inflammation, skin rejuvenation, faster wound healing, relief from both chronic and acute pain, improved muscle recovery, and more.

*What is Fire and Ice Contrast Therapy?*

Combine our Infrared Sauna with Red Light Therapy and our Cold Plunge tank to experience Fire & Ice contrast therapy. Contrast therapy is a recovery and relaxation technique based on alternating heat and cold exposure. Heat promotes vasodilation (the widening of blood vessels), while cold causes vasoconstriction (the narrowing of blood vessels).

This alternating process shifts blood flow between the extremities and internal organs, helping to improve circulation and reduce inflammation. Fire & Ice therapy has also been shown to reduce stress and anxiety by activating the parasympathetic nervous system—the body’s “rest and relax” response—while supporting and stimulating healthy immune function.

*Who Shouldn't use the Sauna?*

Responsible sauna use carries few risks and is generally considered safe for most reasonably healthy individuals. However, sauna use is not recommended in the following situations:

  • During pregnancy

  • If you have recently experienced chest pain (angina pectoris)

  • If you have recently had a heart attack

  • If you have severe aortic valve stenosis

  • If you have a seizure disorder

Please also note:

  • Alcohol and certain medications can impair the body’s ability to regulate temperature and should not be used before or during sauna sessions.

  • Sauna use is not recommended within two weeks of receiving a tattoo.

  • Elderly individuals and anyone at increased risk of heat-related illness should consult a medical professional before using a sauna.

  • Children under the age of 7 have underdeveloped temperature-regulation systems and should only use a sauna with prior medical approval.

*Who shouldn't try Fire and Ice?*

Contrast therapy is safe for most reasonably healthy individuals; however, certain conditions may make these physical stresses too risky. If you are unsure whether contrast therapy is appropriate for you, please consult a medical professional before participating.

  • Please review our sections titled “Who Shouldn’t Use Saunas?” and “Who Shouldn’t Use Red Light Therapy?”

  • Individuals with heart conditions should avoid exposure to large and rapid temperature changes. When the body’s cold receptors detect a sudden drop in temperature, a cardiorespiratory response can occur. This may lead to shortness of breath, decreased cardiac output, and a rapid change in pulse—effects that should be avoided when cardiac health is not optimal.

*Who shouldn't use Red Light Therapy?*

Red Light Therapy is generally considered safe for most individuals. However, any lotions, creams, or medications that carry warnings about sun or light exposure should also be avoided during Red Light Therapy sessions. If you are unsure, it’s best to consult a medical professional before use.

*How do we keep you safe?*
  • Our rooms are cleaned and sanitized between every client. All touch points are sprayed and wiped with alcohol, and floors are sanitized using Simple Green, an environmentally friendly disinfectant.

  • Commercial exhaust fans run for 30 minutes between clients to keep the air fresh and clean.

  • Cold Plunge tank water is tested daily and maintained at a low 4 ppm chlorine—just slightly higher than typical city tap water. Combined with 1-micron filtration, this ensures a clean, safe, and relaxing experience.

*Are saunas safe if you are pregnant?*

High body temperatures can increase the risk of complications or birth defects so it is best to avoid the sauna during pregnancy.

*What should I do to prepare for my Sauna or Fire and Ice session?*
  • Stay well hydrated before any sauna or Fire & Ice session. We recommend drinking 12–20 oz of water about 30–60 minutes prior to your appointment.

  • Avoid eating a heavy meal immediately before your session.Wear loose-fitting clothing to make getting dressed afterward more comfortable.

*Do I wear a bathing suit during my sessions?*

The choice is yours. Each private room includes its own shower, so clothing is optional once inside.

*What do I need to bring to my appointment?*
  • If you have long hair, you may want to bring a comb or brush.

  • If you wear contacts, bring a case to remove them. If you forget your case, let us know—we keep contact cases and solution at the front desk.

  • We provide: towels, washcloths, body gel, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and mirrored stations with hair dryers for use after your sauna session.

*What is your cancelation policy?*
  • We ask for at least a 24 hour cancellation notice.
