Common Massage

and

Body Wrap Questions

*Can I use my Float or Fire & Ice credits
for these services?*

Float and Fire & Ice credits cannot be used to pay for Massage and Body Wraps

*Can I enjoy other Still Water services
on the same day?
*

Absolutely, but the order matters! Please schedule your float, Fire & Ice, or sauna with red light therapy before your massage or body wrap. Oils, lotions, and body wrap products can remain on your skin and transfer into our float or cold plunge water.

*What do I wear during a massage?
*

Undress only to your level of comfort. Your therapist will leave the room while you prepare, and you will remain covered with a sheet or blanket. Only the area being worked on will be uncovered.

*Can I ask for changes during my massage?*

Please do! Let your therapist know if you would like a change in pressure, temperature, positioning, or any other part of your experience. You may also ask to pause or stop at any time.

*What is a body wrap?*

A body wrap is a skin care treatment that uses body products and a covering to create a relaxing experience. The products, preparation, and finishing steps depend on the wrap you choose.

*Does a body wrap include a massage?*

A 60 minute body wrap doesn't include a massage but the 90 minute service includes 30 minutes of relaxing massage.

*What if I have sensitive skin or allergies?
*

Your therapist will discuss product options before your massage or body wrap. If you have specific concerns please text or email your questions before your service. (540) 524-2101, contactus@stillwaterfloatation.com

Are there times when I should postpone a massage or body wrap?

Yes. Please reschedule if you have a fever, a contagious illness, or an active skin infection.

If you have an open sore, healing wound, rash, or sunburn, contact us before your appointment. We cannot massage or apply body wrap products over affected skin. Depending on the location and extent, we may be able to modify your service or recommend postponing it.

Please also contact us before booking if you have recently had surgery, have a history of blood clots or a bleeding disorder, take blood-thinning medication, are pregnant, or are receiving cancer treatment. These circumstances do not always rule out a service, but may require adjustments, a therapist with specific training, or guidance from your healthcare provider.

Your comfort and safety come first. Sharing health concerns ahead of time helps us choose an appropriate experience for you.

How are we keeping you safe?

- We keep our float solution between 40-100 ppm of peroxide, run 3 cycles through a 1 micron filter and run a 5 minute cycle of ozone between every floater.
 - The ozone treatment is also highly effective at sanitizing the air, but in addition to that we  run an exhaust fan in every room for 45 minutes between floats.
- Each room is cleaned and sanitized between every floater.

What should I do to prepare for my float?

 - No caffeine for several hours before your float is a good idea.
- A light meal one hour to ninety minutes before your float can keep the tummy growlers at bay.
- Try not to shave or wax just before your float.
- Wearing loose fitting clothing can make getting dressed after your float much easier.

How do I prepare for my float?
Can I float if I recently dyed my hair, have henna ink or have a new tattoo?

We ask that you not float if you have henna ink or have a tattoo less than 2 weeks old. It is also recommended that you wait 2 weeks after your hair dye to float. A great way to ensure that our water won't be contaminated, is to take a shower and wash your hair, then dry off with a white towel. If you don't see any dye you are good to go! If  you do, then please delay your float. Our very expensive float solution will thank you.

What if I'm claustrophobic?

- You are in complete control of your environment and can choose to the have light or the star ceiling on at any time. You are also free to leave the door/lid partially or fully open. Floating is a relaxing and releasing experience, and while  claustrophobia is a common concern, we have found these concerns to drift away after the first float. In fact, floating often provides relief from such anxieties.

Are there people who shouldn't float?

- You have tubes in your ears, unless you have your doctor's okay

- You have dyed your hair in the last 2 weeks, or it is still showing on towels after you shower

- You have received a tattoo in the last 2 weeks

- You have an infectious skin or respiratory disorder
- You suffer from incontinence
- You are a high-risk pregnancy and have been advised not to float by your health advisor
- You suffer from epilepsy

We ask that you not float if:

How are the tanks kept clean and disinfected?

- There are 1000 pounds of medical grade Epsom salt dissolved in each tank. This saline solution, on its own, does not allow microorganisms to flourish like they might in an untreated pool or hot tub.  In addition, the solution is run through three cycles of  a filtration and sterilization process which includes a 1 micron filter and 40-100ppm of food grade hydrogen peroxide an 5 minute treatment of ozone. It is then passed through a  UV light that, when combined with the peroxide, provide the industry's leading sanitation without any harsh chemicals like chlorine. And, this process is environmentally friendly!

Is floating safe for pregnant women?

- Yes!  It is always a good idea to ask your health advisor if you have any concerns, but many pregnant women love floating and report considerable relief from the stresses of  growing a baby and becoming a mommy.
