Common Float Questions

*How are we keeping you safe?*

  • We keep our float solution between 40-100 ppm of peroxide, run 3 cycles through a 1 micron filter and run a 5 minute cycle of ozone between every floater.

  • The ozone treatment is also highly effective at sanitizing the air, but in addition to that we  run an exhaust fan in every room for 45 minutes between floats.

  • Each room is cleaned and sanitized between every floater.

*How are the tanks kept clean and disinfected?*

Each tank contains over 1,000 pounds of medical-grade Epsom salt dissolved in the water. This highly saline solution naturally inhibits the growth of microorganisms, unlike a standard pool or hot tub.

Between every guest, the water is run through three complete filtration and sterilization cycles. This process includes a 1-micron filter, 40–100 ppm of food-grade hydrogen peroxide, a 5-minute ozone treatment, and a final pass through UV light. When combined, the peroxide, ozone, and UV provide industry-leading sanitation—without the use of harsh chemicals like chlorine.

The entire system is safe, effective, and environmentally friendly.

*What should I do to prepare for my float?*

A little preparation can help you get the most out of your experience:

  • Avoid caffeine for several hours before your float

  • Eat a light meal about 60–90 minutes beforehand to prevent hunger during your session

  • Try not to shave or wax right before your float, as the salt water may cause irritation

  • Wear loose-fitting clothing to make getting dressed afterward more comfortabl

That’s it—simple steps for a smoother, more relaxing float.

*What do I need to bring to my appointment?*

You don’t need to bring much, but here are a few helpful items to consider:

  • If you have long hair, you may want to bring a comb or brush

  • If you wear contact lenses, bring a case so you can remove them before floating

    • If you forget your case, just let us know—we keep contact cases and solution at the front desk

We provide everything else, including:

  • Makeup remover and washcloths

  • Body wash, shampoo, and conditioner

  • Towels and lotion

  • Disposable silicone earplugs

  • Mirrored stations with hair dryers for after your float and shower

Just show up and relax—we’ve got the rest covered.

*Can I float if I recently dyed my hair
or have henna ink?*

We ask that you do not float if you have henna ink (body art) or henna-dyed hair, or a tattoo less than 4 weeks old.

For recently dyed hair, we recommend waiting at least 2 weeks (longer for vibrant/red colors). To check if it's safe: Thoroughly wash your hair, then dry with a white towel. If any dye transfers, please reschedule.

This protects our high-concentration Epsom salt solution and tanks, which are costly to maintain or replace.

*What should I wear in the tank?*

The recommended option is nothing at all. Your float room is completely private, and you'll shower before and after, so nudity allows for the most unrestricted, distraction-free experience.

However, if you feel more comfortable, you can wear a bathing suit – whatever helps you relax best.

*What if I'm claustrophobic?*

You’re always in complete control of your environment. You can keep the lights or star ceiling on at any time, and you’re free to leave the door or lid partially or fully open.

While claustrophobia is a common concern, most people find those feelings fade quickly once they settle into the experience.

Floating is deeply relaxing and often helps relieve anxiety rather than trigger it. If, however,  you’d like extra space, we recommend choosing Tank 1 or Tank 3, which are our most spacious rooms.

*Are there people who shouldn't float?*

Floating may not be recommended if any of the following apply to you:

  • You have ear tubes, unless you’ve received approval from your doctor

  • You’ve dyed your hair within the last two weeks, or the color is still transferring to towels after showering

  • You’ve received a tattoo within the last four weeks

  • You have an infectious skin or respiratory condition

  • You experience incontinence

  • You are in a high-risk pregnancy and have been advised not to float by your healthcare provider

  • You have epilepsy

If you’re unsure whether floating is right for you, we recommend checking with your healthcare provider or reaching out to us before booking.

*What if I fall asleep?*

Awesome! The float solution is only about 12 inches deep, and the high salt content makes you extremely buoyant so if you doze off, it’s completely safe. Many people naturally drift in and out of different states of consciousness during their float, which is part of the experience.

*Is floating safe for pregnant women?*

Yes! While it’s always a good idea to check with your healthcare provider if you have any concerns, many pregnant women love floating and report significant relief from the physical and mental stresses of growing a baby.

Yes! You’re welcome to float while menstruating, just use appropriate sanitary products, such as a tampon or menstrual cup.

*Do I have to wear earplugs?*

*What are your cancellation policy?*

We ask for at least a 24 hour cancellation notice.

Can I float if I recently dyed my hair, have henna ink or have a new tattoo?

We ask that you not float if you have henna ink or have a tattoo less than 2 weeks old. It is also recommended that you wait 2 weeks after your hair dye to float. A great way to ensure that our water won't be contaminated, is to take a shower and wash your hair, then dry off with a white towel. If you don't see any dye you are good to go! If  you do, then please delay your float. Our very expensive float solution will thank you.
